How fortunate to live in a Constitutional State (2)

On the other hand – and this makes things a little more complicated – the associations and NGOs have grown up. In the first phase, the emergence, when they were small and insignificant, they also acted like little children who desperately want something and blindly lash out, throw themselves on the ground. You know that. So, these movements were smiled at and pushed to the sidelines. Then came the time of adolescence, the time of arson attacks and other acts of violence. This was also relatively easy to get a grip on, because it is very easy to take action against people who cause harm to others. Especially legal. In the meantime, the adult stage has been reached and the various activities have been thought through and prepared. Reports, expert opinions and well-founded research form the basis of the requirements and are used to work towards appropriate changes in the law. Educational work is backed up with the appropriate arguments. The activists developed into well-informed, serious discussion partners. That made it much harder to take action against them.

How fortunate to live in a Constitutional State (1)

Imagine you are lying in bed in your apartment. Next to you your partner, the children in their rooms. You are in a place that offers you warmth, safety and security. Here you feel safe. The door locked. Not much can happen. It’s three in the morning. The time when you sleep the deepest. Maybe you have a nice dream right now. From the trip with the kids last weekend. Or from the last sunrise hike. When you are suddenly jerked out of your sleep. Hooded figures, all in black, weapons at the ready, break open your door and drag you out of bed. But not only you, but also your partner. They don’t even stop at the children. Stuck against the wall just like you were dragged out of bed. In pajamas or even naked. Didn’t you think you would be safe here? Didn’t you think it would be a place where nothing could happen to your children? And this is where this raid takes place. Out of the blue. Completely unpredictable.

Liberate Animals – Decriminalize Activists

Four young, ambitious people who had made it their task not only not to ignore the suffering that is being done to our non-human fellow creatures everywhere at any time, but also to document it and bring it to the public. What they revealed was as frightening as it was sobering. The crime scene was the Excelsior Hog Farm in Abbotsford BC, Canada, but it could have been any other pigsty in the so-called livestock industry, which Canada is generally considered to be quite advanced. What these recordings showed was not only that these animals were tortured in crates when they had young and then further on fully slatted floors, with the well-known injuries, cuts and growths. We’ve almost gotten used to that in Austria, after more than three years of campaign work by the VGT against fully slatted floors. In addition, animals that could not even walk were seen unable to get up, so they slowly died while the still alive, mobile conspecifics ate up the already dead ones that were simply left lying between them. They rotted in the stable. Some were thrown in the trash cans. All this is nothing new for those who have already dealt with the matter. Still, it gets worse.
